Presenter: Annie Asgard (click for bio)
Annie is the current Cathaoirleach (Chairperson) of ELSTA (English Language Support Teachers' Association of Ireland) and sits on its National Executive.
Teachers who attend this ELSTA Seminar will …
- acquire a better understanding of the challenges and benefits of teaching remotely for students who do not have English and/or Irish as a language of the home.
- gather practical ideas about how to plan, implement, evaluate and assess English language learning students during periods of remote learning and use Zoom (or other video conferencing platforms) to teach EAL lessons.
- incorporate CLIL approaches in remote teaching platforms using environmental materials.
- gain confidence in their ability to work with multilingual students to encourage the use of home language to scaffold English language learning during the challenging times of school closure through collaboration with family and their home environment.
